[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum announced on the 26th, "Starting in July, masks can be removed outdoors in parks, hiking trails, and other outdoor areas with just the first dose of vaccination," adding, "Additionally, there will be no restrictions on the number of people for outdoor multi-use facilities and regular religious activities." This bold incentive plan was introduced as the vaccination rate struggled to gain momentum.
On the morning of the same day, Prime Minister Kim chaired the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting at the Government Seoul Office and stated, "We will finalize the 'Support Plan for Daily Life Recovery for Fully Vaccinated Individuals' so that more citizens can feel the effects of vaccination." According to this government policy, from July, vaccinated individuals will be able to participate in activities such as attending religious facilities like churches.
Prior to this, starting in June, restrictions on the number of people for immediate family gatherings will be lifted for those who have received the first dose of the vaccine. Prime Minister Kim said, "Meetings and activities at senior centers and welfare centers will also become much freer," adding, "Once vaccination is completed, individuals will be exempt from the set limits on the number of people at private gatherings as well as multi-use facilities such as restaurants, cafes, and wedding halls."
Prime Minister Kim stated, "As the final step, after more than 70% of the population completes the first dose by the end of September, we will comprehensively readjust quarantine standards," and predicted, "At the point when herd immunity is achieved, we will also consider easing mask-wearing indoors." Detailed information will be announced soon by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
Prime Minister Kim urged, "In addition to the measures announced today, the government will implement additional easing measures as needed," and emphasized, "If the private sector actively implements various benefits for fully vaccinated individuals, it will greatly contribute to the early overcoming of COVID-19."
