‘2021 Geumcheon-gu Library Book Festival’ Held
June 1-5 'Healing' Theme with Various Programs... Centered on Geumcheon-gu Public Library, Linked with Private Libraries, Local Bookstores, and Regional Artists... Various Performances, Lectures, and Experiential Events Related to Books in 3 Themes
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon Cultural Foundation (CEO Lee Yong-jin) will hold the "11th Geumcheon-gu Library Book Festival" from June 1 to 5 under the theme of "Healing."
This book festival aims to help residents of Geumcheon-gu overcome painful and difficult situations through books, especially after the fatigue caused by COVID-19. The festival will be centered around four Geumcheon-gu public libraries and will include 10 Geumcheon public small libraries, 13 Geumcheon private small libraries, 7 local bookstores, and local artists, offering various online and offline programs.
The event is organized into three main themes. The first theme focuses on healing and recovery, featuring the "Dreaming Picture Book Concert," which harmonizes books and classical music, and the "Library Call Center Performance," where stories submitted in advance are introduced along with musical performances tailored to the story, aiming to soothe residents' weary hearts caused by COVID-19.
The second theme centers on books and communication with authors, including "Author Book Talks," "Humanities Special Lectures," and "Books Through Sound," narrated by professional voice actors.
The third theme emphasizes togetherness, offering reading experience events for parents and children to participate together, the "Let's Laugh with Books 2021" challenge to read for 20 minutes daily over 21 consecutive days, and the "Dreaming Library Tour," which promotes public libraries, public and private small libraries, and local bookstores within Geumcheon-gu.
Additionally, activities linking libraries and local artists will be promoted by encouraging participation from artists active in the Geumcheon area.
A representative of the Book Festival Promotion Committee stated, "This event was prepared to comfort the hearts of residents exhausted by COVID-19 through books and to overcome difficult situations together. We aim to avoid one-time events and seek sustainable program implementation and communication between libraries and local residents."
