Btv, Original Musical 'Seuwaeg Age: Oechyeo, Joseon!' VOD Release

SK Broadband has taken on a meaningful challenge to quench such thirst of B tv customers.
On the 26th, SK Broadband announced that it will present the live performance of the original Korean musical Swag Age: Outsider, Joseon! through B tv VOD. This is the first time in the IPTV industry to offer a domestically created musical in its original form.
While searching for differentiated ‘B tv Original’ content beyond movies and dramas, SK Broadband discovered and invested in Swag Age: Outsider, Joseon!, which combines both fun and emotion. Amid many restrictions on the performing arts industry due to COVID-19, this project aims to breathe new life into the industry and allow customers to enjoy fresh and new performance content from the comfort of their homes.
Swag Age: Outsider, Joseon! depicts the stories of the people in an imaginary country ‘Joseon’ where the traditional Korean poetic form Sijo (時調) is banned. The music features a blend of 12 traditional Korean instruments, 22 classical orchestra instruments, and 7 band instruments, combining traditional and modern sensibilities. It started as a graduation project by Seoul Institute of the Arts students and won the Best Male and Female Newcomer Awards (Yang Hee-jun and Kim Su-ha) at the 4th Korean Musical Awards last year, and this year it won the Best Musical Award.
SK Broadband and the production company established a ‘content distribution chain’ through this work, including ▲live performances at the theater (January 5 to February 28, 2021, CJ Towol Theater at Seoul Arts Center) ▲online streaming (March 28, Naver TV) ▲theatrical release (May 13, exclusive at Lotte Cinema) ▲B tv VOD release (May 26).
Great effort was also put into producing the live performance video for the VOD release. One day during the theater run was performed ‘without an audience’ for filming. A total of 10 broadcast cameras, including two jibs (crane-type cameras), were deployed. An SK Broadband official said, “Customers will feel the vivid presence as if they are at the theater with UHD video and 5.1 channel sound.” A subtitle version is also provided so viewers can sing along with the musical songs at home.
The VOD rental price is 11,000 KRW (VAT included). It can be viewed by navigating to the ‘Movies’ menu → ‘Newly Added Movies’ block on B tv Home or by searching on B tv Home. Starting June 16, it will also be included in the monthly movie subscription OCEAN. From May 26 to June 1, SK Broadband will give a 3,300 KRW movie discount coupon to all customers who purchase Swag Age: Outsider, Joseon! VOD during that week.
