View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] 'Regime change through generational change' VS 'Regime change through experience and seniority.' Candidates challenging for the People Power Party leadership pledged to focus on achieving regime change in next year's presidential election. Relatively younger candidates emphasized 'change,' while veteran lawmakers stressed 'stability.'
The People Power Party held its 1st party convention vision presentation on the morning of the 25th at the Nurikum Square International Conference Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Five-term lawmaker Joo Ho-young and three-term lawmaker Yoon Young-seok appeared on stage wearing shirts without ties. While emphasizing 'experience,' they seemed aware of the recent 'young blood surge' in the party leadership race. In particular, Lawmaker Joo tried to show a youthful image by holding a tablet PC during his speech.
First-term and younger candidates, on the other hand, chose to appear more 'seasoned.' First-term lawmaker Kim Woong and former Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok gave their presentations wearing suits and ties. This is interpreted as a response to criticism of lacking 'seniority' amid ongoing 'old vs. new' conflicts. Lawmaker Kim Eun-hye attracted attention by wearing a red baseball jacket, symbolizing the hope that the People Power Party must win next year's presidential election.
All candidates showed an all-in attitude toward regime change. Lawmaker Hong Moon-pyo introduced himself as a 'maker of presidents,' and Lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae as a 'hope for regime creation.' Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won also emphasized, "I will achieve regime change."

The cut-off (preliminary primary) opinion poll will be conducted from the 26th to 27th. It will be reflected with a 50% party member vote and 50% public opinion poll ratio. If no 'big move' is shown at the vision presentation, the cut-off results are likely to be based on name recognition rankings.
