Gwangyang-si to Implement Revised Level 1 Social Distancing Starting May 24
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that it will strengthen the level 1 quarantine measures of the Jeollanam-do reorganization plan from May 24 to May 30 for one week, following the end of social distancing level 2 on May 23.
Considering the recent decline in confirmed cases, the contraction of the local economy, and the increasing fatigue of citizens, the city will implement level 1 of the Jeollanam-do social distancing reorganization plan, but will enforce strengthened quarantine measures on high-risk entertainment facilities and singing practice rooms.
The main points include banning private gatherings of five or more people, restricting the operation of five types of entertainment facilities, colateks, dance halls, holdem pubs, and singing (coin) practice rooms from 11 PM to 5 AM, and reopening public facilities.
Restrictions on operating hours for restaurants and cafes will be lifted, but if only coffee, beverages, or desserts are ordered by two or more people, it is strongly recommended that the time spent inside the store be limited to one hour.
Additionally, religious activities will be limited to 30% of seating capacity for regular services, and gatherings and meals organized by religious activities are completely prohibited.
Deputy Mayor Kim Kyung-ho stated, "Since all places in daily life are exposed to COVID-19 infection, minimizing contact is the only way to protect everyone's safety." He added, "Vaccination is the only shortcut to herd immunity and a quick recovery of daily life, so I hope everyone participates in getting vaccinated."
