Military reports 12 new COVID-19 cases... 4 more 'post-vaccination infections' added
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 22nd that 12 additional COVID-19 cases have been confirmed within the military.
The newly confirmed cases emerged sporadically across seven units, including Army units in Hwaseong, Goyang, Paju, and Yeoncheon in Gyeonggi Province, the Osan Air Force base, and Army units in Inje and Hongcheon, Gangwon Province.
Among these, the Hongcheon unit had reported 3 confirmed cases the previous day, and during contact tracing tests, 2 additional officers tested positive, bringing the total to 5. The others are units where new confirmed cases have recently appeared.
Of the 12 cases, it was identified that 4 soldiers had recently received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. This brings the cumulative number of breakthrough infections after vaccination within the military to 11.
As of this date, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the military stands at 925, with 95 currently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense has effectively completed the first dose vaccination for approximately 114,000 soldiers aged 30 and above who consented to vaccination. With 40 additional vaccinations administered the previous day, the cumulative number of vaccinated personnel reached 114,314.
