Korea National Oil Corporation (President Yang Soo-young) participated in the 2021 Spring Academic Conference hosted by the Korean Society of Resources Engineering held at Ulsan Lotte Hotel on the 20th, presenting the latest research projects in the renewable energy sector.
The corporation analyzed the business strategies of domestic E&P companies and introduced research results on efficiently storing carbon dioxide underground, sharing them with related academic circles.
Reflecting the increasing interest of the government and industry in developing renewable clean energy, many in-depth research results on sustainable resource development through environmental conservation were also presented at this conference, attracting attention.
Sponsored by 14 member companies including the Korea National Oil Corporation and the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, and with participation from 17 domestic universities, this conference held until the 21st offers a platform for integrated discussions and debates on new applied fields such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), smart resource development, and geological disposal of radioactive waste, in addition to traditional resource engineering fields.
During the academic conference, the corporation set up a promotional booth to allow citizens to easily understand the main issues and trends of the corporation’s renewable energy business, including directions for eco-friendly projects related to CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage), current business status, and R&D promotion strategies.

Yang Soo-young, President of Korea National Oil Corporation, said in his congratulatory speech, “The corporation is currently undergoing active transformation into a specialized renewable and clean energy company,” adding, “Through this academic conference, we will exchange extensive knowledge and experience with the domestic industry and academia preparing for the Green New Deal era.”
