On the 21st, Judge Kim Tae-gyun of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 16 accepted the prosecution's request to summon former reporter Lee as a witness in the defamation trial under the Information and Communications Network Act against Representative Choi. The witness examination will be held on July 23.
The defense team of Representative Choi stated that they are considering applying to summon Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon, who is suspected of collusion with former reporter Lee, as a witness. The lawyer argued, "The essence of this case is not simply an issue of journalistic ethics, but that the reporter colluded with the prosecution to obtain investigation information."
