KISA Supports Introduction of 'No-Installation Certificates' for 40 Small and Medium Enterprises

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), together with the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced on the 21st that it will promote the "No-installation Authentication Module Provision and Application Support Project" targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using software (SW) installation-type electronic signature services such as 'ActiveX' and 'exe'.
The purpose of this project is to develop a no-installation type electronic signature authentication module and provide and support replacement for 40 SMEs. It aims to create an environment where the general public can conveniently use certificates without installing programs like ActiveX.
Applications are open to any SMEs currently using SW installation-type electronic signature authentication modules, and related submission documents must be prepared and submitted via email by the 31st of this month. Detailed information can be found in the notices section on the KISA website.

Choi Kwang-hee, Head of KISA's Digital Security Industry Division, stated, "We hope this project will be a cornerstone in improving the electronic signature usage environment for SMEs," adding, "KISA will continue to do its best to establish and expand electronic signature systems that the public can experience, including improving web and app accessibility for socially vulnerable groups."
