Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts 'Capacity Building Training' to Revitalize Reading Clubs
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) is conducting a ‘Capacity Building Education’ program, one of the initiatives to revitalize reading clubs, targeting club members interested in reading groups and discussions.
According to Seo-gu on the 20th, this course will be held at Sangnok Library from July 25 to August 26, with a total of six sessions lasting two hours each starting at 7 PM, conducted together with three experts.
The program covers topics related to the operation and management of reading clubs, including planning reading meetings, selecting discussion books, the role of leaders for communication within reading clubs, and methods for presenting discussion topics.
A library official said, “This course is composed of diverse content such as practical discussion sessions among participants, so it is expected to be helpful for club members interested in reading. Under the guidance of professional instructors, psychological burdens are reduced, allowing for a more beneficial experience. We will continue to strive to revitalize reading groups in the future.”
Meanwhile, since 2019, Seo-gu has been supporting selected clubs through an annual contest for the reading club revitalization support project, providing support such as ‘discussion book support, capacity building education, and book concert events,’ and also selecting outstanding clubs.
