Yoon Seok-yeol's 40-Year Confidant Seok Dong-hyun: "The Longer the Time for Self-Reflection and Refinement, the Better"
Need More Preparation Time
Must Undergo Training Process with Strategic Learning
No Need to Rush Political External Activities
Deserve to Lose Sleep Every Night
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Lawyer Seok Dong-hyun, who has been friends with former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol for over 40 years, stated on the 20th regarding Yoon's prolonged hiatus, "The longer the time for reflection and refinement, the better. He should take even one more day for his own preparation and go through a process of honing himself with strategic learning, then confidently step out into the world."
Lawyer Seok was a classmate of former Prosecutor General Yoon at Seoul National University Law School, class of '79, and served as the head of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office. He started his career as a prosecutor earlier than Yoon, who is from the 23rd class, as Seok is from the 15th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute.
Through his Facebook, Lawyer Seok said, "The period of Yoon's seclusion has passed two months and is nearing three months. For a figure receiving tremendous attention from the political world, this is an unprecedentedly quiet and still approach," adding, "Questions are beginning to arise such as when he will start external activities and why he is not moving quickly despite the possibility of his approval ratings dropping." He continued, "Whenever it is rumored that he went somewhere or met someone, the media goes into a frenzy. This is likely due to the high expectations and interest in Yoon, and the ruling party's great fear. There is even a slight tense atmosphere," he assessed.
He then said that from Yoon's perspective, there is no need to rush political external activities. Lawyer Seok stated, "Right now is the stage of shedding old skin for a major transformation, a time for self-reflection and preparation that he will never have again," adding, "The moment he steps outside, surrounded by people and chased by issues, he won't even have a moment to reflect on current affairs or consider what is right or wrong. This is a common problem among politicians in our country."
Lawyer Seok said, "Although it seems like a long period of almost complete seclusion, it is only about two to three months," and added, "It is actually a short time to shed the marks left by nearly 30 years of prosecutorial life. Moreover, considering that he must now take a completely different path and the roles and responsibilities required on that path, it might be appropriate to lose sleep every night over the endless worries." He also said, "Whether it is Yoon or someone else, the person who will become our leader now must be a magician who brings happiness to the people by presenting possibilities for future life and work, rather than someone who merely enjoys digging up past affairs or dividing people into factions based on old ideologies and codes."

He also predicted that the public would patiently wait for such a period of reflection. Lawyer Seok explained, "The current ruling power, which seized power with a hollow fandom without any reflection or inner strength, obsessed only with past affairs and division, made decisions that ultimately caused the people to regress. Because the desire for this regime to be the last of its kind is so great, the public will endure and wait."
