View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 20th that it has published the ‘Sustainability Management Report 2019-2020,’ which contains the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management achievements over the past two years from 2019 to 2020. The report also allows a review of the ESG management performance of CJ Logistics’ overseas subsidiaries in the United States, China, Vietnam, and other countries.
This report, commemorating the company’s 90th anniversary in 2020, begins with a special feature including the company’s history and customer congratulatory messages, and focuses on CJ Logistics’ core sustainability management issues: ▲Climate Change Response ▲Safety and Health Management ▲Core Competencies activities and achievements. The core issues were selected based on the interest levels of internal and external stakeholders and business impact among 29 major issues related to ESG management.
To actively respond to climate change, CJ Logistics has been recognized for its efforts to lead eco-friendly logistics through the continuous introduction of electric vehicles and plastic upcycling projects. In November last year, it became the first in the industry to deploy a 1-ton electric cargo vehicle on-site, and plans to replace all vehicles with eco-friendly electric cargo vehicles by 2030.
As part of reducing carbon emissions, the plastic waste upcycling project is also ongoing. In March and April, CJ Logistics introduced uniforms and pallets made from upcycled plastic waste at logistics sites. Going forward, the company plans to procure necessary items on-site through plastic upcycling. CJ Logistics’ eco-friendly green logistics cases have been internationally recognized and were introduced as exemplary ESG cases at the UN ‘Sustainable Private Sector International Webinar’ in December last year.
In response to increasing demands from various stakeholders for disclosure of ESG management achievements, this report also separately includes an ESG factbook. On this page, quantitative and qualitative achievements for each ESG indicator, including environment, society, and governance, can be confirmed.
CJ Logistics first published its Sustainability Management Report in 2017 and transparently discloses its environmental, social, and governance improvement activities and achievements annually through the report. The CJ Logistics Sustainability Management Report can be viewed and downloaded from the CJ Logistics website.
Earlier, on the 6th, the company established an ESG Committee within the board of directors to strengthen ESG management. The committee is composed of CEO Shin Shin-ho, Shin Young-soo, head of the parcel delivery division, and four outside directors, with former Financial Services Commission Chairman Lim Jong-ryong appointed as the ESG Committee Chairperson.
