[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is designating this year as the "Year of Rejuvenation for Seoul Medical Tourism" and will promote various medical tourism projects, including the reorganization of related infrastructure and strategic promotion and marketing.
On the 20th, Seoul announced that on the 21st it will launch the "2nd Seoul Medical Tourism Revitalization Promotion Council" to implement medical tourism policies, and will work together with private sectors such as medical institutions, medical tourism attraction agencies, and academia to concretize the future blueprint of Seoul medical tourism.
The "Seoul Metropolitan Medical Tourism Revitalization Promotion Council" is a public-private cooperation body consisting of 15 members (2 ex officio members and 13 appointed members) that will operate for two years to discuss the development direction of Seoul medical tourism, including advising on Seoul medical tourism promotion projects.
Under the vision of "Smart All-Care, Medical·Beauty·Wellness Tourism City," Seoul plans to focus on expanding the medical tourism ecosystem, including beauty and wellness tourism. The goal is to quickly respond to the changed medical tourism trends in the post-COVID-19 era and to secure a leading position in the global medical tourism market.
Accordingly, Seoul will focus on reorganizing beauty and wellness tourism infrastructure and spreading content, supporting self-quarantine costs for foreign patients with severe diseases, and holding the Seoul Medical Tourism International Travel Mart both online and offline, including the establishment of the "Seoul Medical & Beauty·Wellness Support Center (tentative name)."
