KT Studio Genie, Seocho Office Era Begins
Gangnam Area Content and Media Industry Cluster
Goal to Secure 1,000 Intellectual Property Rights Within 2 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT Studio Genie, the media and content control tower of KT Group, is entering the Seocho office era.
According to related industry sources on the 18th, KT Studio Genie employees will start commuting to the Samsung Life Seocho Tower near Gangnam Station in Seoul from the 20th. The decision to locate the new office in the Gangnam area was influenced by its geographical advantages. Many existing content and media companies, such as production and distribution firms, are located nearby, enabling close collaboration. CJ ENM, Showbox, and NEW (Next Entertainment World) are also situated in the vicinity. It is also believed that the concentration of information networks and financial capital, including well-known venture capitalists (VCs), in the Gangnam and Seocho districts positively influenced this decision.
Led by co-CEOs Kim Cheol-hyun and Yoon Yong-pil, about 60 employees will move in sequentially. Since the corporation was established on January 28, before the new office was prepared, CEO Kim worked at a shared office in the Jongno district of Seoul, while CEO Yoon worked from the skyTV office, where he also holds the CEO position.
Studio Genie is a wholly owned subsidiary established by KT with a total investment of 52.8 billion KRW. It plays a central role in KT Group’s “digital platform company (Digico)” strategy and leads nine related affiliates, including Storywiz, skyTV, Olleh TV, Skylife, KTH, KT Season, and Genie Music, driving the “metaplatform.” The company is also continuously expanding its workforce through experienced hires.
