Construction of a Complex Community Facility Covering Leisure, Culture, and Welfare ... Basic Plan to Be Established This Year, Construction Scheduled for 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is rebuilding the aging Jangji-dong Community Center as a new complex building with leisure, culture, and welfare functions at 136 Munjeong-dong.
The existing center, built in 1996, was too small to meet the increasing administrative demands, and the need for new administrative and cultural spaces had been raised.
Accordingly, the district has finalized the decision to construct the ‘Jangji-dong Complex Building’ alongside the housing reconstruction and maintenance project in the area of 136 Munjeong-dong.
The newly constructed Jangji-dong Complex Building will become a multi-purpose community facility encompassing leisure, culture, welfare, and administration. To this end, by the second half of this year, the district plans to conduct basic planning and feasibility studies to predict future demand and functions, estimate building scale, arrange the facility layout, and plan spaces rationally, aiming to start construction in 2022.
With this, Songpa-gu will accelerate improvements of aging community centers, including the Jamsilbon-dong and Pungnap 2-dong Community Centers, which have already begun construction, the Machon 1-dong Community Center under the Goryeo and Machon comprehensive development plan, and the Bangi 2-dong Community Center complex development in cooperation with LH, thereby enhancing residents’ convenience.

Mayor Park Seong-su said, “Five community centers are currently under construction to improve aging centers in the district, a key pledge of the 7th local government administration,” adding, “We will do our best to keep our promises to residents by ensuring smooth project progress and rebuilding poor facilities such as Ogeum-dong, Samjeon-dong, and Songpa 2-dong Community Centers into spaces that residents desire.”
