Chest pain complaint... 50s police officer who received AZ vaccine dies after 16 days
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] A police officer in his 50s from Jeonnam died 16 days after receiving the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, showing side effects.
According to the Jeonnam Police Agency on the 17th, A (55), a police inspector affiliated with the Jeonnam Police Agency, died on the 16th while receiving treatment at a university hospital in Gwangju.
Inspector A experienced symptoms such as nausea, headache, and chills immediately after the first AZ vaccination on the 30th of last month. Following medical staff's advice, he took Tylenol every 6 hours, and his symptoms improved, but he later complained again of leg numbness and chest pain.
Despite the symptoms, Inspector A continued to go to work normally, but on the night of the 12th, he collapsed on his way home, received cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and was transported to a hospital in Gwangju before being transferred to a university hospital.
Inspector A underwent a stent procedure to artificially widen the narrowed blood vessels caused by thrombosis. Although the cardiac arrest symptoms improved immediately after the procedure, his heart function did not fully recover, and he died around 7:10 p.m. on the 16th.
Inspector A was generally healthy and was reported to have no underlying diseases in his health checkup earlier this year.
Health authorities are reportedly investigating whether Inspector A's death is related to the vaccine administration.
