With the suspension of senior citizen restaurant operations due to the spread of COVID-19, making it impossible to provide food within senior centers, the county has been offering substitute meals to elderly residents since July of last year.
By selecting 1,300 vulnerable individuals at risk of food shortages in each town and township, six rounds of substitute meals were provided until March, and the project will continue while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
The substitute meals consist of products such as instant rice, instant soup, ramen, gim (seaweed), and beverages that elderly people can consume as meal replacements. These are delivered contactlessly to recipients' homes through the Korea Senior Citizens Association Muan Branch and the Muan County Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
Additionally, Muan-gun is providing meals including rice and side dishes to 70 elderly people with mobility difficulties through the "Meal Delivery Service for Elderly with Mobility Issues," and care workers not only deliver food but also check on the health and well-being of the elderly, thereby strengthening care functions.
