Samsung Display Unveils Next-Generation OLED Technology at US SID Exhibition
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Samsung Display showcases differentiated OLED leadership by unveiling next-generation technologies such as S-Foldable, Slidable, and UPC at the world's largest display specialized exhibition.
Samsung Display announced that it will participate in 'Display Week 2021,' hosted by the Society for Information Display (SID), from the 17th to the 21st.
At this online exhibition, Samsung Display will open a virtual exhibition hall under the theme 'Better life thru Samsung OLED,' introducing next-generation OLED products and the excellence of Samsung OLED. In addition, visitors will be engaged through various content including a keynote speech by President Choi Ju-seon and remarks by President Kim Seong-cheol on receiving the Karl Ferdinand Braun Award.
Samsung Display Unveils Numerous Next-Generation OLED Technologies
The 'S-Foldable' showcased by Samsung Display through video is a product that demonstrates world-class OLED technology, featuring a multi-foldable design that folds twice inward and outward. When fully unfolded, the screen size is 7.2 inches, allowing it to be used like a smartphone when folded twice and like a tablet when fully opened.
The 'Slidable' technology maintains the conventional smartphone form factor while expanding the screen horizontally to enjoy the benefits of a large display. It can be conveniently carried as a smartphone-sized device in daily use, and when the screen is extended, it supports multitasking and viewing large-screen videos and content.
UPC (Under Panel Camera) technology minimizes the bezel and maximizes the screen by placing the front camera, which was previously located on the bezel of existing IT devices, under the panel. The panel area where the camera module is located has increased transmittance to secure camera functionality.
President Choi Ju-seon Delivers Keynote Speech on 'The Future of Display'
In addition to participating in SID 2021, Samsung Display actively engages in various areas such as keynote speeches and paper presentations. On the 18th, Samsung Display President Choi Ju-seon will deliver a keynote speech titled 'The Metaverse and the Great Future of Display,' presenting the vision of the display industry leading the virtual reality era. Furthermore, Samsung Display will present 27 papers on various topics including next-generation light-emitting materials and TFT device technology at SID 2021.
