View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, Superintendent of Education for Jeonnam, has recently taken urgent quarantine measures to block infections in the eastern Jeonnam education field, where the spread of COVID-19 infections is severe.
According to the Jeonnam Office of Education on the 16th, Superintendent Jang Seok-woong held an emergency quarantine measures meeting for eastern Jeonnam at the Suncheon Education Support Office and inspected the quarantine status of schools at all levels.
The meeting, personally chaired by Superintendent Jang, was attended by education directors and officials from four regional education support offices in Suncheon, Yeosu, Gwangyang, and Goheung County, where the recent COVID-19 spread is severe.
The attendees shared recent trends in confirmed COVID-19 cases and the progress of quarantine measures in the respective regions and agreed to seek ways to block the spread of infection.
The Office of Education ordered cooperation among Jeonnam Provincial Government, city and county health centers, and education support offices to operate a constant monitoring system and to promptly trace movements and conduct quarantine and screening tests to prevent additional infections when confirmed cases occur.
In particular, students and staff were urged to always wear masks, maintain social distancing, and comply with service guidelines. Along with this, emergency support for disinfection expenses at schools in the four eastern Jeonnam regions of Suncheon, Yeosu, Gwangyang, and Goheung will also be considered.
On the morning of the same day, Superintendent Jang visited temporary screening clinics set up at Palma Elementary and Palma Middle Schools to inspect the COVID-19 mass testing site for students and staff.

Superintendent Jang Seok-woong said, “The recent spread of COVID-19 infections in the eastern Jeonnam region is a very serious situation,” and urged, “Education support offices and school officials in the affected areas should respond with extraordinary determination to protect the health of students and staff from COVID-19.”
