According to Kyodo News on the 16th, a nationwide telephone survey of voters aged 18 and older conducted on the 15th and 16th showed that 59.7% responded that the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics scheduled for this summer should be canceled.
Following that, answers such as ▲holding the event without spectators (25.2%) and ▲holding the event with a limited number of spectators (12.6%) were given.
Meanwhile, the approval rating of the Yoshihide Suga Cabinet was recorded at 41.1%. This is a 2.9 percentage point (P) decrease compared to last month's Kyodo News survey. The percentage of respondents who do not support the cabinet reached 47.3%.
Regarding the government's response to COVID-19, negative evaluations accounted for 71.5%, greatly surpassing positive evaluations at 25.2%. When asked whether the government's COVID-19 vaccination plan was progressing smoothly, 85.0% answered "delayed." Only 12.9% responded that it was "progressing smoothly."
