Jangseong-gun, Highest Number of High-Income Returning Farmers Earning Over 100 Million Won in Jeonnam Province
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun in Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it has the highest number of high-income return-to-farmers earning over 100 million KRW annually within Jeollanam-do.
According to a survey conducted by Jeollanam-do last year targeting farms and corporations with annual farm income exceeding 50 million KRW, there are a total of 75 return-to-farming households earning over 100 million KRW within the province.
Among them, the largest number, 11 households, are located in Jangseong.
The county is well known as the “No. 1 place for return-to-farming and return-to-village” by promoting various policies reflecting local characteristics as well as customized support for returnees, with an average of 1,500 households settling in the county annually.
This year, it will implement a total of eight expanded projects compared to previous years to support the stable settlement of returnees.
It is also carrying out various projects ranging from the “Village-level Visiting Integration Education Support Project” to help the integration of returnees into the community, to the “New Farmer On-site Training” which provides opportunities for novice returnees to acquire farming skills.
Recently, it has attracted attention by operating a “Category-specific Counseling Mentor Group” that directly addresses the difficulties faced by prospective returnees.
The county has selected mentors in 12 fields including strawberries, tomatoes, and smart farms who are actively engaged, with support targets ranging widely from young people and office workers hoping to return to farming to returnees who have already decided on their farming categories.
If prospective returnees who find it difficult to participate in regular education or programs request mentor counseling at the Agricultural Technology Center, the mentor in the relevant field visits the applicant’s farm to provide practical advice, information, and applicable solutions.
