[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Porsche Korea launched the flagship model of Porsche's electric sports car Taycan, the 'Taycan Turbo S,' in South Korea on the 13th.
The Taycan Turbo S is the most powerful production model in Porsche's current lineup. It comes standard with a 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus. With launch control and an overboost output of up to 761 horsepower (761 PS, 560 kW), it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and its top speed reaches 260 km/h.
The maximum charging power is 270 kW, and the certified driving range in Korea is 289 km. Instead of the typical 400V system used in existing electric vehicles, it is the first to apply an 800V voltage system. Utilizing a fast charging network, it can travel up to 100 km with just 5 minutes of charging. Under optimal conditions, it can charge from 5% to 80% battery capacity within 22 minutes and 30 seconds at a maximum high output of 270 kW.
The Taycan Turbo S features one electric motor on each of the front and rear axles, creating an all-wheel-drive system. Porsche explained that the electric motors use a stator coil method called hairpin winding, which increases output and torque compared to previous models.
The rear axle adopts a 2-speed transmission. The first gear delivers acceleration from a standstill, while the second gear maximizes output and efficiency at high speeds. Additionally, thanks to an energy recovery system capable of up to 265 kW, about 90% of everyday braking can be achieved through regenerative braking without actual brake operation.
The Taycan Turbo S offers four driving modes optimized for pure electric driving: Range, Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus. In particular, the Individual mode allows for customized system settings as needed.
The Taycan Turbo S comes standard with 18-way power-adjustable adaptive sports seats, rear axle steering, the Sport Chrono package, and Porsche Electric Sport Sound. The BOSE surround sound system consists of 14 speakers and 14 amplifier channels, including a subwoofer.
