Woori Technology Achieves Korea's First PSD Railway International Standard Certification... "Expecting Expansion of Overseas Orders"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Woori Technology announced on the 13th that it has obtained the ‘IRIS (ISO/TS22163) certification’ for its Platform Screen Door (PSD) system from Germany’s global testing and certification organization ‘TUV Rheinland’.
The IRIS certification acquired by Woori Technology this time is an international standard certificate specially required by the ‘Union of the European Railway Industries (UNIFE)’ for supplier approval in the railway sector. It is based on the ‘ISO 9001 International Quality Management Standard’ certification and can be used in several European countries. Companies that obtain IRIS certification are registered in UNIFE’s database, increasing their chances of winning orders, and can be exempted from audits during specific manufacturing inspections, saving time and costs.
Previously, Woori Technology was the only company in Korea to acquire the highest international safety rating ‘SIL4 (Safety Integrity Level 4)’ certification for the ‘vertical VPSD system’ and the ‘horizontal PSD system.’ Woori Technology expects that obtaining the IRIS certification will help expand orders in overseas markets in the future.
A Woori Technology official said, “We are pleased that our company’s technological capabilities have been recognized once again in the European railway market, which demands rigorous quality and technology,” and added, “We will continue steady technological development and do our best to achieve meaningful results in the orders currently underway in France, Greece, India, and Brazil.”
Meanwhile, Woori Technology has been engaged in the railway business since 2012 and is actively conducting related projects both domestically and overseas. Domestically, it has supplied PSD systems to the Hanam double-track railway and Incheon Line 1 Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station, completing construction and commencing commercial operation. The PSD systems for two stations on the Seoknam extension line and Dasa Station on Daegu Subway Line 2, which is being conducted as a national project, are nearing completion.
