Australia to Allow International Students Entry Starting Late This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] The Australian government will gradually reopen its immigration doors next year, which were closed due to COVID-19 border restrictions. The entry of foreign international students into Australia is expected to begin from the end of this year.
On the 12th, citing the 2022 fiscal year (July 2021 to June 2022) government budget announced the previous day by Josh Frydenberg, Australia's Federal Treasurer, it was reported that the immigration intake quota during this period is a total of 160,000, including 79,600 for skilled migration and 77,300 for family migration.
Australia's net immigration inflow decreased by 97,000 over the past year. Experts point out that with Australia's population growth rate expected to fall to around 0.1%, a continued decline in immigration inflow over several years will make it difficult to secure essential labor force.
