View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jumi Lee] A national petition has been posted requesting protection for childcare teachers from "witch hunts" after a daycare center director, distressed by a 'child abuse suspicion post' on a mom caf?, took an extreme step.
On the 10th, a post titled "Please protect childcare staff from mom caf?s that kill people with their fingers" was uploaded on the Blue House's national petition board. The petitioner, who identified herself as a daycare center director, appealed for strict punishment for false accusations posted on mom caf?s under charges of false accusation.
The petitioner stated, "These days, childcare staff are viewed as 'potential criminals,'" adding, "Recently, on Children's Day, because of a post on the Dongtan mom caf? accusing child abuse, one family was destroyed and one person became a star in the sky. Someone wrote about an incident that was not their own as if it had happened to them and accused us of being child abusers."
She continued, "The influence of mom caf?s is tremendous," explaining, "Once an image is tarnished, all the work done with love for the children becomes meaningless." She lamented, "I have not worked hard to gain credit by looking at children, but simply because I love children and want to see them grow up, yet someone’s misunderstanding and sharing of cases that have not even been judged on mom caf?s kills people with their fingers."
The petitioner said, "When child abuse is reported, it inevitably goes to the prosecution, and who bears the indescribable stress until the prosecution's investigation results come out?" She added, "Even if a lawyer is hired, the perpetrator’s family tends to regard the victim?the director and childcare staff?as 'strange people.' Even if found not guilty, it is difficult to proceed with charges such as false accusation, obstruction of business, or defamation against parents."
She further stated, "It is clear that child abuse must not happen. If child abuse occurs, whether at the center or at home, strict punishment should be enforced," but also appealed, "I hope measures will be improved so that false accusation and obstruction of business can be punished when witch hunts and false information dissemination that kill people with fingers occur."

The author, who had sent their child to the daycare for about fifteen days since mid-last month, raised suspicions of abuse, saying, "My child came home with scratch marks from fingernails on their body," "My child says the teacher is scary," and "I watched the daycare CCTV because the situation seemed suspicious, and saw the director neglecting a child who fell and slapping the feet and legs of a child climbing on a shelf." The post was read by over 5,000 people and received dozens of comments in a short time.
However, the parents of the child climbing the shelf in the video did not consider the director’s actions abusive at the time and reportedly even wrote a petition in support of Ms. A. The petition written by parents of the daycare included statements such as "Considering how the director has cared for the children so far, she is not someone who would abuse children" and "We trust the director 100%."
Also, the director reportedly visited the author to ask them to take down the post, claiming it was not true, but left feeling only humiliated.
Ultimately, the director, who was suffering from extreme stress, was found dead on the 5th. Upon learning of the director’s death, the author deleted the post and left the caf?. The police plan to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy.
