Request for Resubmission of Ministerial Nominee Hearing Report According to the Confirmation Hearing Act... If No Resubmission by Friday, Appointment Process to Proceed
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in has requested the National Assembly to resend the confirmation reports for the ministerial candidates whose confirmation reports have been delayed, by the 14th of this month.
Park Kyung-mi, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated on the 11th, "At around 2:20 PM today, President Moon requested the National Assembly to send the confirmation progress reports for candidates Im Hye-sook for Minister of Science and ICT, Noh Hyung-wook for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Park Jun-young for Minister of Oceans and Fisheries by Friday the 14th, in accordance with Article 6, Paragraph 3 of the Confirmation Hearing Act."
Previously, the National Assembly held confirmation hearings for candidates Im Hye-sook, Noh Hyung-wook, and Park Jun-young, but the confirmation reports were delayed due to a lack of agreement between the ruling and opposition parties. The reports were supposed to be sent to President Moon by the 10th, but the deadline was missed.
According to Article 6, Paragraph 3 of the Confirmation Hearing Act, if the president does not receive the confirmation reports, he may request the National Assembly to resend them within a period of up to 10 days starting from the next day (the 11th).

There was speculation that President Moon would set a sufficient period close to 10 days to allow time for ruling and opposition parties to reach an agreement and request resubmission. However, President Moon set a shorter deadline until Friday the 14th of this week. If the ruling and opposition parties fail to send the confirmation reports to the Blue House by then, President Moon is expected to proceed with the appointment process for the three ministerial candidates.
