Chonnam National University and Jeonnam Province Selected for 'Island Experience Program' Support Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chonnam National University's island experience program will receive support from Jeonnam Province.
The Chonnam National University Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Institute announced on the 11th that it was selected for Jeonnam Province's '2021 University-Local Connection and Cooperation Support Project' with the island experience program 'Seomseom Yeosu' and will receive 20 million won in funding.
'Seomseom Yeosu' is designed to allow students from other regions, including international students enrolled at Chonnam National University's Yeosu Campus, to directly experience the beauty and value of the islands in Jeonnam.
Over five sessions, participants will explore major islands in the Yeosu area such as Geumodo, Ando, Dolsan Hyangiram, and Odongdo.

Professor Choi Sang-deok said, "Through the island experience program, awareness of island travel will increase and become popularized, naturally promoting the islands of Jeollanam-do," adding, "It will especially have a promotional effect for the 2026 Yeosu Island Expo."
