Gwangju City Conducts Special Cleanup of Illegal Advertisements
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City and its five autonomous districts announced on the 11th that they will conduct a special cleanup of illegal advertisements until the end of this month in celebration of Family Month in May.
Although the autonomous districts regularly crack down on and clean up illegal floating advertisements daily, May sees a concentration of public and private events such as Children's Day, Parents' Day, and the May 18 Democratic Uprising commemorations. Anticipating an increase in illegal banners, flyers, posters, and signboards, the city has formed a permanent cleanup team with the districts to strongly enforce the removal of illegal floating advertisements.
The main targets for cleanup are ▲major gateways, arterial roads, and areas around stations and terminals ▲illegal banners installed outside designated posting boards in densely populated areas ▲illegal posters attached to street facilities ▲obscene and decadent illegal flyers around schools and entertainment districts ▲illegal signboards installed on sidewalks, among others.
In particular, regarding guerrilla-style postings such as apartment complex sales banners posted during weekday nights and holidays, administrative sanctions against habitual violators of illegal banners will be strengthened during this special cleanup period, with focused crackdowns during vulnerable times.
Additionally, a collection reward system involving citizen participation will be operated, and an automatic warning transmission system will be used to repeatedly send warning messages to illegal advertising companies.
