Songpa-gu Supports Installation of Solar Mini Power Plants for 630 Households
Solar Mini Power Plant Installation Cost ▲Veranda Type 400,000 KRW ▲Residential Type 3,670,000 KRW Support... Annual 440,000 kW Self-Produced Electricity → CO2 Reduction 203 Tons → Equivalent to Planting 24,000 Young Pine Trees
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is promoting the 'Solar Mini Power Plant Installation Subsidy Project' to increase local energy self-sufficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The solar mini power plant attracts attention as a form that produces electricity by installing solar modules on apartment balconies, house rooftops, etc., and consumes it immediately. It is an eco-friendly electricity production method that is easy to use and also contributes to reducing electricity bills.
The district is investing a total of 70 million KRW to provide subsidies for solar mini power plants to ▲560 balcony-type households and ▲70 house-type households, offering residents the opportunity to participate directly as renewable energy producers.
If installed individually in each household, the cost would be 450,000 KRW and 4,600,000 KRW respectively, but through this project, the balcony-type can be installed with a personal contribution of 50,000 KRW, and the house-type with 930,000 KRW. Songpa-gu, the Korea Energy Agency, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government jointly support the remaining costs.
Installing and operating 630 solar mini power plants this year (560 balcony-type, 70 house-type) can produce about 440,000 kWh of electricity annually, reducing approximately 203 tons of carbon dioxide. This effect is equivalent to planting about 24,000 young pine trees.
A district official stated, “Operating a 300W balcony-type solar power system can save up to 70,000 KRW annually on electricity bills, and a 3kW house-type system can save up to about 800,000 KRW, allowing individuals to recover their initial costs within one year.” He added, “Since electricity bill savings vary depending on household electricity usage and sunlight exposure, please carefully consider your personal installation cost before deciding.”
Applications for installation and subsidies can be made ▲for the balcony-type via the Haetbitmaru website or the Solar Call Center, and ▲for the house-type via the Green Home website.
The deadline is November 30, but the application may close early if the budget is exhausted.

Mayor Park Seong-su said, “This project is a win-win initiative that helps households easily produce energy through clean solar power, save on electricity bills, and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, benefiting the global environment.” He added, “We hope that the widespread adoption of solar mini power plants will lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and bring Songpa closer to becoming a carbon-neutral city.”
