English Summary Version Produced and Shared at G20 Education Ministers' Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education is publishing a white paper summarizing the response and evaluation of COVID-19.
On the 9th, the Ministry of Education announced that it will publish the "2020 Education Sector COVID-19 Response" white paper on the 10th. The paper compiles records of how schools, homes, and experts cooperated to ensure students' safety while supporting uninterrupted learning during the infectious disease crisis.
Although COVID-19 has not ended, an interim white paper was published to share with the field, and a comprehensive white paper with additions and supplements will be prepared once COVID-19 is over.
To write the white paper objectively on the infectious disease response and policy implementation process, a research team was formed with the Korea Educational Development Institute and experts in related fields. Key implications were derived by area to prepare materials for effectively responding to the current COVID-19 and similar infectious disease situations in the future.
The white paper is divided into three periods according to the COVID-19 spread situation and social distancing levels. The response process in 11 educational areas, including academic operations, response systems, school quarantine systems, online school opening preparations, crisis communication systems, exams, budget support and compensation, was subdivided and organized.
The 2020 education sector COVID-19 response materials will be distributed to metropolitan and provincial offices of education, education support offices, and universities. They will be posted as electronic documents on the Ministry of Education website. An English summary version will be produced and shared at the G20 Education Ministers' Meeting scheduled for June.
