Victim Catches Collection Agent After Two Voice Phishing Incidents... Police Investigating
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A voice phishing collector who tried to swindle tens of millions of won twice within a month from the same victim was caught by the police.
Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 8th that they have booked Mr. A, a man in his 50s, on charges of fraud and are investigating him.
Mr. A is suspected of attempting to extort 22 million won from Mr. B, a man in his 70s, on a street in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, around 5 p.m. on the 4th of this month.
Mr. B, who received a call demanding money and went to the designated place, recognized Mr. A’s face as the same person who deceived him in a similar manner last month and took 24 million won. Mr. B directly caught Mr. A and reported to 112, then handed him over to the responding police officers.

The police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, but the court dismissed it, stating that "his residence is fixed." The police are investigating additional crimes, believing that Mr. A swindled about 200 million won from other victims and delivered it to the voice phishing organization.
