'Taxi Driver Indiscriminately Assaulted' 20s Arrested... "Risk of Escape"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] A man in his 20s accused of assaulting a taxi driver in the middle of the road has finally been detained.
On the 7th, Seo Bomin, the warrant judge at the Seoul Central District Court, held a pre-arrest detention hearing for the man in his 20s, Mr. A, and issued an arrest warrant, stating, "There is reason to suspect that he committed the crime as alleged, and there is a risk of flight," based on the police's request.
Mr. A is accused of assault and obstruction of official duties after knocking down and assaulting a taxi driver in his 60s near Nangok Tunnel in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, around 10 p.m. on the 5th while riding in the taxi.
A video taken by a witness shows Mr. A repeatedly punching the victim's head and shoulders without wearing a mask. The victim is currently hospitalized with severe injuries, including broken teeth and a laceration on the back of the head.

Earlier, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul arrested Mr. A in flagrante delicto and applied for an arrest warrant the day before.
