Yoon Hee-sook Responds Again, "Why Did Lee Jae-myung's Two Children Attend University?"
Yoon Hee-sook, a member of the People Power Party, is questioning Kang Shin-wook, the Commissioner of the Korea National Statistical Office, during the National Assembly inspection of the Korea Customs Service, Public Procurement Service, and the Korea National Statistical Office held by the Planning and Finance Committee at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the morning of October 14 last year.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Yoon Hee-sook, a member of the People Power Party, has been continuously criticizing Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung's proposal to give 10 million won each to young people who do not attend university.
On the 6th, Yoon posted on her Facebook with the title, "Governor Lee Jae-myung, since you are in a position that affects other people's lives, please deeply consider important issues," expressing her criticism.
She questioned, "Governor, why did you send your two children to university?" and added, "You must have believed it was beneficial."
She continued, "Then, if you provide travel expenses with the condition of 'if you don't go to university' to young people from families who cannot afford to travel, thereby changing their decision to attend university, and they end up following life paths worse than your children’s, how will you take responsibility for that?"
She also stated, "I strongly agree with changing the structure that induces blind university attendance among young people by eliminating discrimination based on educational background," and urged, "Please actively support young people who do not attend university to receive quality vocational education and secure good jobs."
However, she pointed out, "The fundamental concerns are how to improve the quality of universities to change the reputation of 'universities you don't have to attend,' how to actively assist young people who find it difficult to attend university due to lack of financial resources, and how to support young people who firmly decide not to attend university to live confidently with good jobs."
Yoon criticized, "Isn't that the concern of a leader? Please stop distorting other people's lives with taxpayers' money and giving handouts."
She also said, "And please do brainstorming without the reporters knowing, and once your thoughts mature, present them to the public," adding, "If you say 'it was just an idea,' it is easy to be misunderstood that someone at the level of a presidential candidate is playing people against each other."
This is interpreted as a response to Governor Lee’s remark the previous day, when he said, "How can discussion be possible if ideas from brainstorming are distorted like this? No improvement is possible by tying creativity and words," following Yoon’s criticism.

Earlier, on the 4th, Governor Lee proposed at a high school graduate employment support agreement ceremony held with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office, "Gyeonggi Province will actively cooperate in creating a world where many opportunities are given to young people who graduate from high school and get employed. How about supporting 10 million won for world travel expenses to young people who do not attend university?"
In response, on the 5th, Yoon posted on her Facebook titled, "Populism even in education? Governor Lee Jae-myung, please read the times and deeply consider serious topics," writing, "I am worried because it seems like a serious self-contradiction or a lack of insight into the times." Yoon strongly criticized, saying, "This is not the time for sensational bait like '10 million won for world travel for those who don't go to university.' It is populism without vision or responsibility."

As criticism from the opposition party continued, on the 6th, Governor Lee posted a full statement clarifying, "The world travel experience was not a campaign promise or policy proposal but a brainstorming idea to discuss the diversity of support methods at a roundtable discussion on support policies for young people who do not attend university," expressing regret.
