Daejeon, Chungnam, Sejong Promote Regional Innovation Projects through 'Local Government-University Cooperation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Three local governments in the Chungcheong region have been selected for the Ministry of Education's public contest, the '2021 Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project.'
Daejeon City announced on the 6th that the 'Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Regional Innovation Platform,' jointly participated by local governments in the Chungcheong region, was selected as a final project in this contest.
This project is a large-scale national project with a total budget of 343 billion KRW, including 240 billion KRW in national funds and 103 billion KRW in local funds, to be invested over the next five years.
According to the selection results, the city plans to focus on fostering key projects in mobility information and communication technology (ICT) and mobility materials, parts, and equipment to build the Chungcheong region megacity foundation.
Additionally, through educational innovation, the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Regional Innovation Shared University will train 7,000 talents annually in related fields.
In particular, by operating joint campuses in Sejong and Naepo, the project aims to improve residential conditions so that 3,000 innovative talents in the mobility field can find employment and settle in the region annually, while establishing a sustainable regional innovation ecosystem through the advancement of new mobility industry technologies, corporate support, and startup activation.
