Air Busan (CEO Ahn Byung-seok) is conducting a new flight experience program for the COVID-19 era called ‘Non-landing Learning Flight’.
The main content includes a realistic flight experience in an electronic mock-up of an airplane and a non-landing flight circling over actual domestic airports.
This is a new travel experience project that lets participants fully enjoy the fun of departure, and Air Busan is the first domestic airline to attempt such a program.
On the 6th, Air Busan will conduct the ‘Non-landing Learning Flight’ program for 6 hours with 80 students from Namseong Elementary School in Busan, at the Air Busan headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Busan, and inside the aircraft cabin.
Air Busan’s ‘Non-landing Learning Flight’ is a program that has been providing education, travel, and memories through unique experiential activities along with career experience in the aviation industry to local students who have missed out on school trips and experiential learning opportunities due to COVID-19 since last year.
The aviation practice program, previously focused on university students majoring in aviation, has been expanded to elementary, middle, and high school students.
The education includes △ experiential learning in a mock-up (MOCK UP) facility that exactly reproduces the interior of an A321-200 aircraft inside the Air Busan headquarters △ introduction to aviation-related jobs such as flight crew, cabin crew, and maintenance technicians △ uniform wearing demonstrations and in-flight service experience △ non-landing flight experience.
The non-landing flight experience consists of a 2-hour flight departing from Gimhae International Airport, flying over Pohang, Gangneung, and Seoul, and returning to Gimhae Airport.
Onboard, students experience actual cabin crew duties such as in-flight announcements and service. Additionally, to create special memories for the students, various events like lucky draws and aviation quizzes are held onboard, with prizes including Air Busan model airplanes.
To ensure a safe program, Air Busan completed full disinfection of the headquarters the day before the flight and plans to strictly follow infectious disease prevention procedures such as health questionnaires and pre-event temperature checks.
Air Busan’s non-landing learning flight is expected to become a new alternative for school trips and experiential learning in the COVID-19 era.
Although most schools canceled school trips last year, there is a growing call to resume safe, new forms of field experiential learning starting this year.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is also working to develop and distribute safe experiential learning models that can be conducted under COVID-19 conditions.
An Air Busan representative said, “In Japan, school trips have resumed this year in various forms such as short-term schedules and virtual tours using online platforms.”
The Air Busan official added, “The non-landing learning flight allows aviation-related job experiences, which have had fewer opportunities compared to other industries, and is expected to help expand the base of prospective aviation personnel.”
