‘Living in Jeongeup’ Orientation Ceremony... Full-Scale Program Launch
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 4th that it held the opening ceremony for the ‘2021 Living in Jeongeup’ program on the 3rd for urban residents to successfully return to farming and rural living, and officially started the program operation.
The Living in Rural Areas project is a newly introduced program this year for urban residents who wish to return to farming and rural living.
Before returning to farming and rural living, this project provides an opportunity to live in rural areas for more than one month to experience jobs and rural life, and to interact with local residents, aiming for a successful settlement.
This year, Jeongeup City selected Sagyo Village Association in Sannae-myeon (representative Jin Geumsik), which has experiential lodging facilities, as the operating village for the Living in Rural Areas project.
Out of a total of 29 urban applicants, 9 were finally selected through screening, and the program officially started with the opening ceremony on the 3rd.
Participants will live in Sagyo Village for one month until June 2, experiencing various rural living activities such as agricultural technology education, resident exchanges, exploration of Jeongeup’s history and culture, education on understanding returning to farming and rural living, and visits to advanced farms.
Lee Wanok, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “Through this project starting for the first time this year, we hope it will greatly help urban residents wishing to return to farming and rural living reduce trial and error and lead to a happy rural settlement.”
