[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Korea Gas Corporation was selected as an "Excellent Institution" in the '2020 Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 4th.
The 'Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation,' which began in 2018, is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluates five areas?public data openness, utilization, quality, management system, and others?to understand the status of public data provision and improve policies. Especially in 2020, the 'quality' evaluation category was expanded from central administrative agencies and local governments to include public institutions, evaluating a total of 535 organizations with a focus on efforts and achievements in providing user-centered public data.
KOGAS received a significantly improved score of 90.9 points (Excellent, public institution average 62.8 points) compared to 76.55 points (Average) last year through active public data provision. It also received the highest grade in the areas of data openness, utilization, and quality.
In the 'Openness' area, efforts to discover public data demand through in-house contests and public demand surveys, as well as collaboration with other public institutions to open high-quality public data, were highly evaluated. In the 'Utilization' area, system improvements enhanced public data utilization capabilities, and a public data utilization competition was held to discover and nurture startups. In the 'Quality' area, a plan was established to comply with data standards and actively shared with stakeholders, receiving excellent evaluations.
