On the 3rd (local time), according to the Times of Israel, the IDF announced that there are currently no COVID-19 cases among all its members.
The first confirmed COVID-19 case in the IDF was on March 2nd last year. A soldier working part-time at a toy store tested positive.
Over the following 14 months, not only conscripted soldiers serving mandatory duty but also officers and civilian employees were consecutively infected. In February, the number of COVID-19 cases exceeded 3,000.
The IDF began COVID-19 vaccinations in early January. By March, when the combined number of fully vaccinated personnel and recovered individuals reached 80% of the total force, the IDF declared herd immunity.
