The three local governments announced on the 3rd that "on the 25th, a forum titled 'Why the Gwangju-Icheon-Yeoju GTX Line is Necessary' will be held at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall to attract the metropolitan area GTX line."
At this forum, seven panelists including Shin Dong-heon, Mayor of Gwangju, Eom Tae-jun, Mayor of Icheon, Lee Hang-jin, Mayor of Yeoju, railway experts, transportation researchers, and professors will participate in the discussion.
These local governments expect that if the GTX is attracted, it will expand the city's growth potential, and the connection between Icheon and Yeoju will serve as a stepping stone extending to Gangwon Province via the Gyeonggang Line, acting as a catalyst for the mutual development of metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas.
Furthermore, the GTX line connecting Gwangju, Icheon, and Yeoju to the existing GTX routes is also expected to play an important role in terms of balanced national development and fairness.
