Strict Compliance with Quarantine Rules Including Refraining from Visiting Hometown and Family Gatherings at Executive Meeting
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Seo Chunsu, the mayor of Hamyang-gun, urged thorough compliance with quarantine rules, including refraining from hometown visits, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in a senior officials meeting in celebration of Family Month.
On the morning of the 3rd, the county held a senior officials meeting presided over by Mayor Seo, where reports on important pending projects to be promoted by each department were given, and cooperation from each department was secured for smooth project implementation.
On this day, Mayor Seo said, "May includes holidays such as Children's Day, Parents' Day, and Buddha's Birthday, and with the expected increase in regional movement, there are concerns about the spread of COVID-19," adding, "At times like this, please actively adhere to quarantine rules by refraining as much as possible from visiting other regions or inviting family or acquaintances from other regions."
He continued, "If there is even the slightest negligence in complying with quarantine rules, no one can be safe from COVID-19 infection," and emphasized, "Since this is a time when infection spread is more worrisome than ever, it is necessary for public officials to lead by example and for residents to actively participate."
Along with this, he encouraged the promotion of various policies involving county officials and residents to revitalize the local economy and support small business owners who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
Mayor Seo also said, "As a result of the joint efforts of residents and public officials, the population decline has been significantly mitigated, maintaining the population at around 39,000," and urged, "Please continue to strive to implement various customized population policies that resonate with the residents."
