[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Song Young-gil was elected as the new leader of the Democratic Party of Korea. Five members were elected as Supreme Council members: Kim Yong-min, Kang Byung-won, Baek Hye-ryun, Kim Young-bae, and Jeon Hye-sook.
On the 2nd, the Democratic Party held a National Delegate Convention (Party Convention) at the central party office in Yeouido, where Song received 35.6% of the support, defeating Woo Won-shik (29.38%) and Hong Young-pyo (35.01%) to win the leadership.
In the Supreme Council election, which selects five members, Kim Yong-min received 17.73% of the support, ranking first. He was followed by Kang Byung-won (17.28%), Baek Hye-ryun (17.21%), Kim Young-bae (13.46%), and Jeon Hye-sook (12.32%).
Seo Sam-seok (11.11%) and Hwang Myung-seon (10.89%), who also competed, unfortunately failed to secure a position.
The results of the party convention were announced by combining 45% from the national delegate vote, 40% from the party members' vote, 5% from the general party members' opinion poll, and 10% from the public opinion poll.

In the delegate vote, out of a total of 15,905 delegates, 14,365 participated, resulting in a turnout rate of 90.32%. In the party members' vote, out of 694,559 eligible party members, 296,885 participated, showing a turnout rate of 42.74%.
