Jeonnam Province Pilots Revised Social Distancing Plan Allowing Private Gatherings of Up to 6 People
Simultaneous Participation of All Previous Cities and Counties Until the 9th
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 2nd that it will pilot the revised social distancing plan until the 9th.
This pilot application, conducted in consultation with the government, involves all 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam Province simultaneously. It will be applied from 0:00 on the 3rd.
Despite the nationwide average of over 670 confirmed cases per day, the incidence rate per 100,000 population in Jeonnam remains at 56.47, the lowest level nationwide.
Through customized pinpoint testing by industry and theme, 1,145,000 diagnostic tests have been conducted, covering 62% of the total residents.
Thanks to the active participation of residents, as of this day, 199,256 people, more than 10.7% of the total residents, have completed vaccination, showing a higher vaccination rate of 6.54% compared to the national population.
Accordingly, while maintaining stable quarantine management, the province has piloted this revised plan since last month in consultation with the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, considering the inconveniences in residents' daily lives and the struggling local economy.
According to this revised plan, private gatherings are expanded from 4 to 6 people, the allowable number of event participants is reduced from 500 to 300, and the number of users per facility area is expanded from 1 person per 4㎡ to 1 person per 6㎡.
Private gatherings are limited to 6 people, not 8, to allow participation from all cities and counties adjacent to Gwangju and other areas.
Along with the pilot application of the revised plan, Jeonnam-specific special quarantine measures will also be promoted.
To prevent the spread of regional infections from other areas, a special inspection team will operate to strengthen inspections of cities and counties near Gwangju and major tourist sites.
In celebration of Family Month in May, campaigns to refrain from family gatherings as much as possible and to check on each other by phone will also be promoted.
Additionally, for public institutions in Naju Innovation City, telecommuting, staggered commuting hours, and staggered lunch breaks will be expanded, and gatherings such as dinners will be discouraged. A temporary screening clinic will be installed within Naju Innovation City to strengthen quarantine in the public sector.
Special mobile inspection teams will be organized to intensively check compliance with quarantine rules at multi-use facilities such as entertainment venues, restaurants, cafes, and singing practice rooms, which have recently shown an increasing trend.
During the pilot period, the province will continuously monitor the quarantine situation, including the number of confirmed cases and vaccination rates, and consider extending the revised plan and expanding private gatherings to up to 8 people.
