Providing Ships for Field Exploration Opportunities... Government Selects 14 Research Projects
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 2nd that it has selected 14 research projects this year for the "Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) Research Vessel Industry-Academia-Government Joint Utilization Project," which supports research vessels for academia and the private sector to provide field exploration opportunities.
A representative project is the "Study on Nutritional Dynamics of Zooplankton in the Southern Sea Area" using the coastal research vessel Ieodoho. This research aims to identify the species diversity and ecological status of zooplankton in the southern sea and clarify their nutritional dynamics. The research team plans to secure basic data to be used in various follow-up studies such as food competition.
Another selected project is the "Study on Variability of Deep-Sea Sedimentary Environment in the Northeastern Pacific" conducted aboard the ocean research vessel Onnuriho, which investigates changes in the deep-sea environment of the northeastern Pacific.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will support the selected projects with research vessel usage fees and research funds within a limit of 2.6 billion KRW.
