Distribution of 'Font Inspection Program' to Detect Paid Fonts in School Documents
Ministry of Education and Korea Education & Research Information Service Distribute 'Font Check Program'
Providing Features Including Batch Change of Paid Fonts
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] A 'font inspection program' has been released to prevent copyright disputes over fonts used in schools.
On the 2nd, the Ministry of Education and the Korea Education and Research Information Service announced that they will distribute the 'font inspection program' to elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide in cooperation with 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education.
As cases of copyright disputes over fonts at elementary, middle, and high schools have increased, the Ministry of Education and the metropolitan and provincial offices of education jointly responded. It was difficult to prevent copyright disputes because it was hard to distinguish between free and paid fonts that users were unaware of, in addition to the default fonts installed on computers.
The newly developed program collects information on about 10,000 basic, free, and paid fonts, allowing easy inspection of font files and document files installed on computers. It checks font usage rights in Hangul, PDF, and document files and can collectively change paid fonts used in documents.
