Seven Eleven, Seasoning Sales Increase with Rise of Home Cooking Enthusiasts... Discount Event Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of 'home cooks' who prepare food at home has increased, leading to a rise in seasoning sales at convenience stores.
According to 7-Eleven on the 2nd, an analysis of sales in residential commercial areas from January to April this year showed that seasoning sales increased by an average of 25% compared to the same period last year. By category, powdered seasonings such as salt and Dashida increased by 18.5%, sauces like gochujang and doenjang rose by 22.3%, and sauces such as mayonnaise and ketchup saw a 21.5% increase in sales. Additionally, sales of cooking oil (33.2%) and powdered flour products like wheat flour and frying powder (24.9%) also increased.
7-Eleven is diversifying its product lineup by launching 16 new products in the seasoning category, which continues to grow steadily. Furthermore, this month, they are holding promotions including giveaways (2+1) and discounts on a total of 10 types of seasonings and sauces.
