Mokpo Samhyang-dong 'Weekend Farm Opening'
120 Households for Sale, Various Crops Cultivated Until November

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeonnam, announced on the 30th that it will open the ‘Jeonwon Village Weekend Farm’ in Samhyang-dong.
The opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on the 1st of next month at the weekend farm entrance of Sankye Village in Samhyang-dong.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, no separate events will be held, and participants will be guided only to designated sections by being dispersed by time at 10:00 (1st round), 11:30 (2nd round), and 14:00 (3rd round).
Samhyang-dong will actively support participants’ convenience by assisting with compost work and section organization, plastic sheet work, water supply facilities, basic education on crop cultivation methods, and joint weed removal support.
In particular, the Mokpo City Federation of Rural Leaders will provide eco-friendly crop cultivation education and seven types of seedlings (red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, chili pepper, crown daisy, eggplant, tomato, corn) free of charge only to participants on the opening day.
This year, 120 households participated, each receiving a 17㎡ (about 5 pyeong) plot, and participants will autonomously cultivate various seedlings such as chili peppers, lettuce, and tomatoes from May to November on their allotted farms.
A Samhyang-dong official said, “The Samhyang-dong weekend farm will be a space where people can escape their busy daily lives, experience rural life, create joyful memories with their families, and share warm affection with neighbors who cultivate crops together.”
