Even before his appointment was finalized, he personally attended most of the on-campus events, big or small. At these events, he consistently promotes the concept of a ‘Doing University’ that pursues practical knowledge.
The Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) LINC+ Project Group for Customized Industry-Academia Cooperation (Director Shin Dong-seok) held the 9th annual brand program ‘Double Mentoring’ launch ceremony and industry professor appointment ceremony on the afternoon of April 29 at the Central Library Auditorium.
Following quarantine guidelines, about 100 people including academic advisors, industry professors, and students attended, with the event broadcast live via Zoom for remote participation.
A 2020 activity video was introduced, followed by student representatives Hong Jae-beom (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) and Oh Hae-rim (Media Communication) taking the oath, the appointment of industry professors, the president’s greeting, a string quartet Chaconne performance, and a commemorative photo session.
President Jeon Ho-hwan, attending his first event since taking office, exchanged business cards with the industry professors and offered words of encouragement, expressing his gratitude.
President Jeon also introduced the ‘Doing University’ initiative, which he is promoting as an icon of university innovation, defining it as the future direction of the university.
Student Oh Hae-rim said, “Participating in Double Mentoring again this year, with the help of industry professors (industry employees), has been a great help in setting my career path. It feels like I am growing one step further by establishing my professional values and narrowing down my future.”
Dongmyung University’s LINC+ Project Group’s Double Mentoring program appoints industry employees as industry professors who collaborate with university professors. It is an industry-academia cooperation-friendly education program that provides academic, major, character, and career guidance to participating students.
This year, Double Mentoring involves a total of 833 participants, including 60 professors, 132 industry professors who are industry mentors, and 641 students. This is about 200 more than last year, showing a trend of increased activity.
Teams consisting of professors, industry professors (industry), and students will conduct character education and employment career guidance at least once a month for about eight months until November 26. A performance report meeting is scheduled for December.
