[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Governor Kim Kyung-soo recently inspected the COVID-19 response in Jinju, where an average of 15.4 confirmed cases per day occurred over the past week.
On the 30th, Governor Kim attended the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) meeting chaired by the Acting Prime Minister at Jinju City Hall and immediately presided over the Gyeongnam Provincial Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (PDSCH) meeting.
Governor Kim introduced that there is a significant disparity in confirmed cases among cities and counties over the past week, with 108 in Jinju, 50 in Sacheon, 43 in Gimhae, and 37 in Yangsan, emphasizing, "In COVID-19 prevention, prior prevention, early detection of confirmed cases, and early containment of spread are important."
He particularly stated, "The core of prior prevention is to elicit voluntary participation and cooperation from the residents," adding, "We must establish measures that can be actually observed on the ground through active and diligent field communication and clear rewards and penalties."
Governor Kim reiterated, "Open and transparent COVID-19 prevention administration is extremely important," and urged, "In May, when movement, meetings, and contacts may increase, we must have a sense of crisis that if the current spread is not stabilized early, we may face a difficult spring."
