Expansion and Distribution of Domestically Developed Kiwi New Varieties with Excellent Taste and Quality
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] The Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services will begin distributing domestically developed new variety Gold Kiwi saplings.
The Agricultural Research and Extension Services will accept distribution applications until the 20th of next month and plans to distribute as early as this fall through next spring. To ensure efficient cultivation and management, farms with kiwi cultivation conditions of 300 pyeong or more will be given priority for distribution.
The Gold Kiwi varieties being distributed this time are new varieties developed by the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, such as 'Gamhwang' and 'Seonpeul'.
'Gamhwang' has a very high sugar content of 18 Brix and is harvested from mid to late October, allowing avoidance of autumn frost damage. The fruit weighs about 140g and has a slightly flattened oval shape.
'Seonpeul' has a sugar content of 14 Brix and is characterized by excellent texture. Its harvest period is from early to mid-October, enabling avoidance of autumn frost damage. The fruit weighs about 117g and has a cylindrical shape.
