View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] According to the quarantine authorities and local governments' aggregated data, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 29th, a total of 498 new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed nationwide. This is 46 fewer than the 544 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
By region, 345 cases (69.3%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 153 cases (30.7%) in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 201, Gyeonggi 133, Ulsan 31, Busan 28, Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk 25 each, Daegu 12, Incheon 11, Chungnam and Chungbuk 7 each, Daejeon and Jeonbuk 6 each, Gwangju and Jeonnam 3 each.

Since there is still time until midnight when the data aggregation closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0:00 on the 30th is expected to increase further, reaching the 600s. On the previous day, 136 cases were added after 6 p.m., bringing the final total to 680.
